King inducted into American College of Trial Lawyers

Porter Wright is proud to announce partner Jim King was inducted into the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers during the college’s 2020 Annual Meeting, which was held virtually Sept. 23-25, 2020.

The college is composed of the best of the trial bar from the U.S. and Canada. Fellowship in the college is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation to those experienced trial lawyers of diverse professional backgrounds—civil and criminal, plaintiff, prosecution and defense--who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Membership in the college cannot exceed one percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province and is, in fact, substantially less.

“We are incredibly proud of Jim for his stellar trial advocacy, his steady leadership in the firm, and his ongoing and many contributions to the profession,” said Jim Curphey, Chair of Porter Wright’s Litigation Department and a member of the college’s State Committee in Ohio. “With his tremendous talents in the courtroom, and commitment to professionalism, civility and collegiality within the bar, Jim sets quite a standard for rising trial lawyers.”

King made national news and legal headlines over the past several years for his work on landmark federal antitrust cases, in which King and the trial team secured two complete defense verdicts in separate bet-the-company trials over a 12 week span in federal court in Philadelphia.

King joins seven other Porter Wright attorneys as fellows: Kathy Brinkman, Jim Curphey, Terry Miller, James Oliphant, Carolyn Taggart, Kathleen Trafford and Robert (Buzz) Trafford.

King serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Corporate & Internal Investigations practice and is an alumnus of the University of Michigan, and The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
