Moyo announced as chair of firm’s Product Liability Practice Group

Porter Wright is proud to announce litigation partner Liz Moyo has been appointed chair of the firm’s Product Liability Practice Group.

Since she joined Porter Wright in 2006, Moyo has represented manufacturers and suppliers of various products such as off-road vehicles, personal watercraft, motorcycles, industrial equipment, health and beauty products, beverages, drugs and medical devices. She is passionate about defending her clients’ products and is mindful that the advice she gives, whether related to an individual claim, a class action, or multi-district litigation, may have a lasting impact on the product brand.

“Liz has worked extensively in product liability in state and federal courts and is highly skilled in all aspects of litigation, from early evaluation of potential claims through trial and on appeal,” said Jim Curphey, chair of Porter Wright’s Litigation Department. “Our clients and our colleagues will continue to benefit from her experience and leadership.”

In order to mitigate the risk of litigation, Moyo also has counseled clients on their product warranties and warnings, communicating with and reporting to regulators, and responding to catastrophic events.

“Over the years, Liz has personified the firm’s values of focusing on the client, understanding the client’s product and brand, as well as being committed to the clients’ goals,” said Joyce Edelman, chair of the firm’s Life Sciences subgroup of Product Liability and chair of the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. “Liz has the knowledge and experience necessary to not only lead our practice, but also the ability to continue the development of our product liability lawyers, who will protect our clients’ interests well into the future.”

Moyo serves as the membership vice-chair of the Product Liability Committee of the Defense Research Institute (DRI). She has spoken multiple times at the annual DRI Product Liability Seminar and has published various articles relevant to the defense of product liability litigation. In addition, she is involved in the Columbus Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association and Ohio Women’s Bar Association. Moyo has been recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers® as a Rising Star multiple times.
