Teresa is co-chair of the firm’s Reinsurance Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group. She has an in-depth understanding of the reinsurance industry and market practices. She has handled numerous arbitration hearings and court cases involving property/casualty and life/health reinsurance. Her experience includes disputes related to coverage, allocation, and accumulation, treaty interpretation, late notice, bad faith, misrepresentation and nondisclosure allegations, claim handling, MGAs, commutation, and insurer and reinsurer insolvencies. She has been lead counsel in reinsurance disputes arising out of asbestos, environmental, workers compensation, construction defect and abuse/molestation claims, among others. 

Teresa represents both ceding insurers and assuming reinsurers. She has achieved favorable results for her clients through evidentiary hearings, dispositive motion practice and settlement negotiation. She provides counseling on contract wording and coverage issues, assists clients in assessing their rights against insolvent insurers and prepares commutation and settlement agreements. Teresa is a frequent speaker on reinsurance and arbitration matters.

During law school, Teresa served as executive editor of the Michigan Journal of International Law. Following law school, she clerked for the Hon. Harry D. Leinenweber in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
