Porter Wright continues expansion of its intellectual property practice with the addition of Yoni Torchman and Sucheta Chitgopekar

Porter Wright is proud to announce that two new intellectual property attorneys have joined the firm’s Chicago office, continuing the rapid expansion of the firm’s practice in the past year.

Yoni Torchman and Sucheta Chitgopekar are the two newest attorneys to join the practice. Earlier this year, the firm added intellectual property partners Jordan Sigale and Julie Langdon in the Chicago office. Recently, the firm added intellectual property partner Bob Joynes in the Washington, DC office and associate Lauren Konrai-Mori in the Cleveland office.  The additions strengthen the firm’s ability to handle intellectual property work in a broad range of fields, including chemical, electrical, mechanical, telecommunications and computer-related industries.

Yoni Torchman has more than a decade of experience in hardware and software patent prosecution and litigation counseling. Yoni advises startups, Fortune 500 companies and in-house counsel on IP strategy, patent portfolio development and dispute resolution. As a former U.S. Patent Examiner, Yoni brings a unique perspective to the patent process, offering clients strategic insight from both sides of the table.

He earned his J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and his B.S. from Northwestern University.

Sucheta Chitgopekar is an intellectual property patent attorney who aligns legal strategy with technological innovation to advance her clients’ IP portfolios in high-tech and industrial sectors, including software, business methods, telecommunications and mechanical arts. She structures, negotiates and provides legal insights on key business transactions, including technology licensing, software development agreements and open-source software.

She earned her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Houston.
