Overview

Sucheta is an intellectual property patent attorney who aligns legal strategy with technological innovation to advance her clients’ IP portfolios in high-tech and industrial sectors, including software, business methods, telecommunications and mechanical arts. She structures, negotiates and provides legal insights on key business transactions, including technology licensing, software development agreements, and open-source software.

Her more than 15 years of experience as a patent attorney includes serving as in-house patent counsel for a major heavy equipment manufacturer. In that role, Sucheta assisted the company in harvesting innovation across AI, machine learning, digital analytics, advanced controls, and smart sensor technologies. She also managed global patent portfolios, including foreign prosecution, and led a large-scale patent-to-part mapping project encompassing 10,000+ patents, directly supporting aftermarket growth and resulting in 1,000+ enforcement actions. Her background also includes conducting detailed analysis of counterfeit parts and developing infringement analyses to drive litigation and enforcement efforts. She has experience spearheading legal protection for inventions that might otherwise get shut down due to subject matter eligibility by throwing a lifeline to underlying commercially viable or disruptive technology in real-world applications. She has brought back life into several medical device applications that have been considered as lacking subject matter eligibility.

She holds a master’s degree in computer science and began her career as a software engineer for one of the leading consumer electronics manufacturers.
