Allen is a senior associate in the firm’s Litigation Department where his practice focuses on complex business and corporate litigation involving competition and antitrust law, class actions and commercial disputes.

His experience in the area of competition and antitrust has focused on class action and multi-district litigation, deepening his experience in bet-the-company trials, complex motion practice and the management of large-scale discovery of electronically stored information (ESI). He is also knowledgeable of the exemptions and immunities available to antitrust defendants, especially the Capper-Volstead Act.

Allen also has extensive experience in commercial collection litigation, pursuing several cases involving multi-million dollar claims on behalf of plaintiffs. In this arena, he has litigated cases involving alter ego, successor liability and piercing the corporate veil theories.

He also represents competitive retail energy and gas suppliers in commercial litigation throughout Ohio, and has represented suppliers in the application process to become a certified supplier.

He is also adept at counseling clients on strategies to reduce their potential for litigation. Notably, he has counseled a state university regarding the scope of their immunity from suit and assisted a bank during a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) investigation. He also serves as outside corporate counsel for a small technology company.

Allen regularly represents pro bono clients in the Franklin County Tenants’ Advocacy Project, the Family Advocacy Clinic, volunteers to serve as a judge in high school and law school moot court competitions and contributes to the firm’s antitrust blog, Antitrust Law Source. While in law school, Allen was as a managing editor and member of the Ohio State Law Journal and served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Michael H. Watson, United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
