Overview
Tristan is an associate in the firm’s Naples, Florida office. He focuses his practice on energy law, administrative law, and civil and probate litigation. As a member of the energy and utility law practice group, Tristan assists public utilities on regulatory compliance, including in ratemaking and complaint cases before state utility commissions. He also assists clients in developing strategic responses to the shifting utility landscape to help ensure long-term capitalization.
Within the administrative and regulatory fields, Tristan facilitates clients' efforts to obtain DEA licenses for manufacturing, importing, or distributing controlled substances. When necessary, he assists clients in developing strategies for litigation against the DEA aimed to secure these licenses. Tristan’s immigration practice centers on appealing adverse decisions, where he has helped represent clients before both the BIA and federal appellate courts. If needed, his advocacy extends to collateral appeals related to removal and detainment orders as well.
Tristan’s civil litigation work spans breach of contract claims, debt collection, general commercial litigation, and business torts, as well as assisting clients with preemptively protecting and preserving their claims. Within the probate litigation field, Tristan’s experience includes trustee-removal actions, initiating and prosecuting incapacity and guardianship proceedings, and advocating for clients in estate disputes. In all realms of litigation, Tristan has experience advocating for clients both in front of the court as well as outside through private settlement negotiations.
Prior to joining Porter Wright, Tristan served as a Federal Judiciary Extern for the Honorable Judge Edmund Sargus, Jr. in the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Ohio in Columbus.
