Tami Kirby honored as one of Dayton Business Journal’s 2025 Women Who Mean Business

Porter Wright is proud to announce that Tami Kirby, partner-in-charge of the firm’s Dayton office, has been named one of the 2025 Women Who Mean Business by the Dayton Business Journal. This prestigious award honors the remarkable achievements and contributions of women in the world of business.

With more than two decades of legal experience, Tami is a leader in the areas of bankruptcy, restructuring, creditors’ rights and real estate. She heads the firm’s Bankruptcy and Reorganization Practice Group and was one of the first attorneys in Ohio to represent a debtor in a Subchapter V case under the streamlined Chapter 11 process.

“Tami exemplifies what it means to be a woman who leads with integrity, purpose and impact,” shares Bob Tannous, Porter Wright’s managing partner. “She is a trusted legal advisor, a strategic leader and a champion for others – both within our firm and throughout the Dayton community. We are thrilled to see her receive this well-deserved recognition.”

As partner-in-charge of Porter Wright’s Dayton office since 2020 and a member of the firm’s Directing Partners Committee, Tami helps shape strategy, culture and attorney development firmwide. Her leadership is characterized by steady confidence, practical wisdom and a deep commitment to mentorship, particularly of women in the legal profession.

Tami’s influence extends far beyond the courtroom. She serves as legal counsel and an ex officio board member for both the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce and Air Camp, a nonprofit organization that provides educational adventures to children nationwide to further their interest in STEM-related fields. Since 2013, she has served on the Board of Trustees for We Care Arts, a nonprofit that uses art to help individuals with disabilities and other challenges build self-esteem, develop life skills and experience joy. She also serves on the advisory board of the University of Dayton’s Keller School of Law, her alma mater.

In 2023, Tami was named to the Dayton Business Journal’s Power 50 list, and her work continues to be recognized by Chambers and Partners USA, The Best Lawyers in America® and Ohio Super Lawyers. She has also served as a mentor for DBJ’s Mentoring Monday event, and was also featured in a 2024 DBJ article titled “Don’t Make This Mistake When Identifying a Mentor,” where she reflected on the importance of building real, meaningful relationships with mentees.

From her thoughtful leadership and community impact to her professional excellence, Tami continues to set a powerful example for what it means to be a woman who means business.
