David Belczyk joins Porter Wright’s Pittsburgh office

Porter Wright announces that attorney David Belczyk has joined the firm as Of Counsel in its Litigation practice. A mechanical engineer and former state prosecutor, David will focus his work in the areas of commercial litigation, construction and product liability.

“David has quite the background and brings a unique skillset to our team,” said Jim Curphey, chair of Porter Wright’s Litigation Department. “We are excited to add his technical knowledge and experience at both the state and federal levels. David is a great addition to our growing team in the Steel City.”

Joining Porter Wright from Jones Day, David has litigated numerous cases in the state and federal courts, including trials to verdict, dispositive motions practice and argument before the federal appellate courts. His practice includes complex commercial litigation related to design, manufacture, and installation defects, performance specifications, construction defects, delay and disruption claims, supply contracts and other engineering matters. David’s experience also includes diverse class action defense, False Claims Act defense, CERCLA, consumer credit litigation and proactive counseling to reduce or avoid claims.

David is a member of the board of directors of Pittsburgh Opera, and he has served as an adjunct professor at Duquesne Law for five years. He has devoted pro bono work to veterans, asylum claimants, artists and civil rights claimants.

After receiving his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Notre Dame, David completed his J.D., with honors, from The George Washington University Law School.
