Overview

Matthew is an associate in the Litigation Department, focusing his practice on commercial litigation with an emphasis on real estate and fiduciary matters.

A third generation Tampanian, Matthew hails from a family of attorneys with a variety of practices throughout the Tampa Bay area. Drawing on his familial and professional influences, Matthew is a passionate and detailed advocate with successful dispositive motion, jury trial and appellate experience.

Matthew distinguished himself both in academics and in leadership throughout his education. In law school, he served on the Florida State University Law Review Editorial Board, was an Editor for both the Journal of Land Use & Environmental Law and the Business Review and held the role of Chief of the Student Supreme Court, reflecting his commitment to scholarship and institutional leadership. As an undergrad at Columbia University, he earned Departmental Honors in Political Science and demonstrated his leadership skills as Senior Class President and Chair of the Student Group Adjudication Board.

While in law school, Matthew externed for the Chief Judge of the Second Judicial Circuit and was later hired by the court to assist multiple judges in managing their civil dockets. He also clerked for the managing partner emeritus of the Tallahassee office of a large national firm, where he assisted in a successful Eleventh Circuit appeal addressing the scope and application of the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act’s commercial activity exception, a subject on which he was subsequently published in the Journal of Transactional Law and Policy.

Before entering the legal profession, Matt worked in the music industry for publishers and other rights-holders, focusing on A&R services, synchronization licensing and copyright administration.
