Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association honors Hugh McKay as 2026 Volunteer of the Year
The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association will honor Porter Wright’s Hugh McKay as the recipient of the 2026 Volunteer of the Year Award at the Association’s Annual Meeting, recognizing his decades of leadership, service, and unwavering commitment to the legal and civic community of Greater Cleveland.
Presented by the CMBA’s Justice for All Committee, the Volunteer of the Year Award celebrates an individual who exemplifies selfless service through extraordinary dedication of time, talent, and leadership in support of the legal profession and the broader community.
For Hugh, service has never been an occasional responsibility, it has been the foundation of a distinguished legal career defined by engagement, mentorship, and community impact.
“Hugh represents the very best of our profession,” said Tracey Turnbull, partner-in-charge of the firm’s Cleveland office. “His leadership, humility, and commitment to showing up for others have strengthened not only the CMBA, but the entire Greater Cleveland community,” Turnbull added.
As a former president of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, Hugh created the 3Rs initiative in partnership with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The initiative, which connects lawyers, judges, law students and paralegals with high school students in Cleveland and East Cleveland schools, is considered landmark educational programming.
Later he served as President of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation, earning the trust and respect of colleagues throughout the legal community.
