Overview
Ahran combines her nearly two decades of government service with perspectives on global mobility gained from living and studying in Asia, Europe, and Canada to help companies and individuals with the full spectrum of immigration issues – from petition to visa to enforcement. She is also co-chair of the firm’s Regulatory and Administrative Law practice group.
Her key roles inside the U.S. government include:
- Working on immigration enforcement and compliance at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
- Adjudicating employment-based immigration petitions for 10 years at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
- Most recently, working at the U.S. State Department focused on visa policy and consular operations.
She works with global businesses, universities, farms, local businesses, trade associations and families, helping them solve complex immigration issues involving ICE, USCIS, embassies and consulates, and CBP. She helps companies and individuals not just apply for immigration benefits, but navigate risks, anticipate scrutiny and develop strategic solutions.
In addition to immigration, Ahran advises on international trade and supply chain matters that affect cross-border business operations.
Her federal government experience includes providing legal advice to senior leadership on U.S. trade, immigration and visa law and policy. She collaborated with the National Security Council within the Executive Office of the President on high-level legal and policy issues and oversaw legal review of proposed visa legislation and administrative rulemaking. She also partnered with the Department of Justice in litigating numerous trade and immigration matters.
