John Shapiro added to Porter Wright’s legal team in Chicago
Porter Wright is pleased to announce the addition of attorney John Shapiro to the firm’s Chicago law office. John will serve as a partner in Porter Wright’s Litigation Department. John serves clients in a range of complex business disputes, including litigation, employment and business matters, and provides general corporate advice and nonprofit corporation management.
“Our Chicago team is delighted to welcome John to the firm,” shared Bob Hermes, partner-in-charge of the firm’s Chicago office. “John brings three decades of international and domestic litigation experience in federal and state courts, before administrative agencies, and in arbitration and mediation. His significant legal counsel background will serve as an incredible complement to our firmwide litigation team.”
John’s prior experience includes serving as a Congressional Investigator and Professional Staff Member on the Subcommittees on Investigations and Human Resources for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Post Office and the Civil Service and serving as a law clerk to the Honorable David Doty, U.S. District Court, Minnesota. Currently, he serves as general counsel for Inspiration Corporation and as a board member and officer of Bigger Table. He is a frequent presenter and writer, and is honored among Illinois Leading Lawyers. John also has received the National Diversity Council and the Illinois Diversity Council Leadership Excellence in the Law Award.
John is licensed in Illinois and Minnesota. He received his undergraduate degree from Carleton College and his law degree from University of Minnesota Law School.
