Jason Dubner acts as editor of ABA Antitrust Committee Spring newsletter

Jason Dubner served as editor for the Spring 2018 newsletter for the Insurance & Financial Services Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law. The Exchange periodically publishes articles on topics relevant to antitrust and consumer protection in the insurance and finance industries.

This edition of The Exchange begins with a recap of the recent Supreme Court argument in Ohio v. American Express.  Katherine Rocco reviews both the procedural posture preceding the Supreme Court appeal, as well as the Q&A between the Justices and counsel for the parties at the oral argument held Feb. 26, 2018.  Stuart Gurrea and Jonathan Neuberger next discuss recent allegations of collusive behavior in financial markets and the degree to which, if true, those allegations undermine market innovation and efficiency.  Finally, Austin Ownbey shares highlights from the IFS Committee’s teleconference examining the role of purchasing cost savings in merger analysis held Dec. 13, 2017.
