From Cincinnati Bar Report: Department of Justice makes food safety a prosecution priority

Attorneys Kelly Johnson and Phil Calabrese authored the article, "Department of Justice Makes Food Safety a Prosecution Priority," which appeared on the cover of the Cincinnati Bar Association's April issue of The CBA Report.

The article discusses recent investigations initiated by the Department of Justice, and how those may indicate more aggressive prosecution of conduct related to foodborne illness outbreaks. Cases involving Chipotle Mexican Grill and Blue Bell Creameries suggest that the Department of Justice is focused on holding executives accountable criminally for distributing contaminated products or defrauding the public and regulators when responding to outbreaks.
