Ellen Freeman elected to AILA Board of Governors

Following a four-month-long national campaign period, Porter Wright is proud to announce that immigration attorney Ellen Freeman has been elected to serve on the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Board of Governors as an At-Large Director for the 2018-2021 term. Election results were announced this week at the 2018 AILA Annual Conference in San Francisco, Calif. Ellen is the first member of AILA’s Pittsburgh chapter to ever be elected to the Board.

“We could not be more proud of Ellen’s tenacity in campaigning for and attaining this high-profile leadership position with the AILA,” said Bob Tannous, managing partner of Porter Wright. “Undoubtedly, she will represent AILA’s membership and mission with excellence and purpose.”

Over the past 12 years, Ellen has dedicated a great deal of energy in service to the AILA and its membership on the local, national and international levels by contributing her time and talent to the dozens of initiatives, committees, conferences, events and publications. One month ago, Ellen was chosen to serve on the AILA Global Migration Section Steering Committee for 2018-2019, and she currently serves on the Business Immigration Task Force. She also served as chair of the fundamentals and special sessions track at this week’s annual conference, and she will co-chair the AILA mid-year conference in January 2019 in Palm Desert, Calif.

The AILA Board of Governors is comprised of the elected National Officers, 21 elected at-large Directors, the chairs of AILA's 39 chapters, a representative of the New Members Division appointed by the President, and active Past Presidents.
