Ag Trade: Navigating Uncertainty Policy Shifts and Relevant Import and Export Regulations
Agricultural trade is evolving due to changing policies, regulations, and global market conditions. The Ukraine War and Middle East Crisis have already impacted the sector, and the U.S. is shifting its trade policy, influenced by Trump’s “America First” agenda and its aggressive tariff stance. This may lead to a reassessment of trade agreements, affecting not only U.S.-Mexico-Canada agricultural trade but also European and Latin American exports to the U.S. This environment of uncertainty will make it difficult for farmers and exporters worldwide to plan, as trade policies could change rapidly due to political shifts. In this session, John explored the challenges and opportunities of navigating uncertainties, including the impact of evolving trade agreements, tariffs, and import-export regulations on international agricultural markets.
