Andy concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation, helping his clients resolve difficult legal problems by identifying creative solutions that help advance their business objectives. He recognizes that the goals of litigation can vary widely depending on the nature of the parties’ relationship, the dispute and the definition of success. Andy listens to his clients, seeking to understand their business and what they aim to accomplish through the litigation. Andy’s broad litigation experience, from arguing dispositive motions and examining fact and expert witnesses at trial, to taking and defending depositions of plaintiffs, defendants and witnesses, and composing all types of pleadings, has prepared him to handle any situation. He has managed cases involving significant privacy and data security concerns due to large amounts of personally identifiable information and protected health information, and he has experience drafting data security and breach notification policies.
With much of his experience devoted to high stakes, multimillion-dollar disputes, Andy is adept at managing matters through all stages of litigation.
Andy also dedicates a portion of his practice to pro bono matters, which have included an 8th Circuit amicus brief in a withholding-of-removal case, prisoner civil rights cases, DACA applications and representation of a musician in a contract dispute.
While in law school, Andy was the managing editor of The University of Chicago Legal Forum and a judicial intern for the Honorable Sonia M. Sotomayor, then of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
