Ryan is a staff attorney in the firm’s Corporate Department where he focuses his practice in the construction and oil and gas industries, drafting and negotiating residential and commercial lease agreements, and assisting clients with real estate title and ownership issues. His practice also includes counseling businesses of all sizes on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and securities.
Prior to joining Porter Wright, he was a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) as a Registered Landman (RL). His work included title and ownership issues, lease negotiations, title and lease curative actions, joint ventures, unitization, Ohio Dormant Mineral Act matters, as well as dispute resolution. In addition, Ryan has experience working with litigators and in-house counsel consulting in matters of electronic discovery.
Ryan’s construction work focuses on a variety of issues, including representing owners, contractors, architects and engineers. He regularly advises, drafts and negotiates agreements, including AIA form contracts.
When it comes to daily operations, Ryan brings first-hand understanding having managed an office of over 100 employees and contractors. He worked directly on project management, marketing and growth, as well as numerous matters related to employee management and independent contracting. He leverages this experience to provide practical counsel to entities considering growth and operational efficiencies through mergers or acquisitions, or through equity, debt and financing transactions.
During law school, Ryan served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Chief Judge R. Guy Cole, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
