Matt is a seasoned real estate attorney who also practices in the areas of commercial lending, financial institution regulation, creditors’ rights and general corporate and business law. He has extensive experience representing developers and landowners in the purchase, sale and development of real estate; drafting and negotiating commercial lease agreements; representing financial institutions and borrowers in foreclosures, receiverships and loan workouts; and assisting businesses in contract negotiation, reformation and dispute resolution. In addition, he has represented energy companies in the acquisition and enforcement of coal and mineral interests, oil and gas leases and pipeline rights-of-way. Matt’s experience also includes advising a significant wireless telecommunications carrier on matters related to new cell site deployment, including issues and opportunities related to 3G and 4G LTE upgrades using macro, distributed antenna system (DAS), micro and small cell technologies. He has also represented health care organizations and financial institutions with respect to the leasing, acquisition and divestiture of real estate assets within their respective regulatory frameworks. Matt also manages the firm’s title insurance agency, Coventry Title Agency, Inc.
Before pursuing a legal career, Matt worked as a marketing director for a large shopping center developer in Cleveland, Ohio where he created and implemented marketing programs, including the production and placement of radio, television and print advertising. He later served as an account manager and controller for a regional business-to-business marketing firm near Indianapolis, Indiana, specializing in implementing and evaluating targeted direct marketing campaigns. Matt now uses his general business experience to add value to the legal services he provides to the firm’s clients. Matt has been listed as an Ohio “Rising Star" by Ohio Super Lawyers®.
