With 25 years of litigation and criminal law experience, Kelly Johnson's practice focuses on white collar crime and civil and criminal forfeiture. In particular, Kelly has a wealth of experience in cases involving fraud, money laundering, tax evasion, environment, and consumer product tampering, among other things. Before joining Porter Wright, Kelly served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender and, in that capacity, represented indigent criminal defendants in federal courts in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky.
Kelly's experience covers a variety of industries, with a significant amount of his practice involving issues in the healthcare field. He successfully represented an extended care facility which was criminally charged with patient endangerment - specifically relating to quality of care issues and a sentinel event. Kelly's experience also includes representation related to federal fraud investigations in Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, as well as advising on debarment issues related to Medicare/Medicaid fraud.
A past president of the Greater Cincinnati Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and immediate past president of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, Kelly also dedicates his time to the growth of the profession. He is a frequent lecturer on various CLE topics, including the Federal Sentencing Guidelines and Asset Forfeiture.
