From Starting Strength: Government licensure for personal trainers: A solution in search of a problem

Starting Strength recently published attorney Brodie Butland’s article, “Government licensure for personal trainers: A solution in search of a problem.”

Butland writes, “For the personal trainers out there: what if I told you that you could be fined or imprisoned because you or one of your associates trains clients without having a particular one of the over 140 personal training certifications in existence? What if I told you that you could be legally prohibited, under pain of criminal punishment, from practicing your craft because five or six unelected bureaucrats disagree with your particular training methodology?”
