Key Matters

  • Currently represents the Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives with respect to a constitutional challenge to Pennsylvania’s absentee ballot laws.
  • Represents publicly traded residential builders, as well as private entities, in matters involving land use, development, zoning, environmental and commercial litigation matters.
  • Represents multiple entities in conducting internal investigations involving a wide range of criminal, civil and ethics matters.
  • Represented the Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in conjunction with multi-jurisdictional and multi-venue redistricting litigation regarding the 2011 Congressional map.  After prevailing both in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and before the Commonwealth Court, the map was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in a 5-2 decision.
  • Represented the National Republican Congressional Committee in conjunction with the special election for the 18th Congressional District and election day operations for key congressional races in Western Pennsylvania.
  • Successfully represented State Rep. Bud Cook during the canvass and subsequent election challenge brought by his opponent.
  • Represented the Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in filing an amicus brief with the Supreme Court of the United States in Rucho v. Common Cause, arguing that partisan gerrymandering claims are nonjusticiable, which position the Supreme Court adopted.
  • Secured a defense verdict in a civil case brought by a nationally-known plaintiff’s firm for punitive damages on behalf of a skilled nursing facility.
  • Successfully defended a trustee of an irrevocable trust in an action in which the beneficiary alleged breach of fiduciary duty and sought a surcharge.
  • Obtained a directed verdict while defending a housing authority in a slip-and-fall case.
  • Successfully tried adversarial proceedings in bankruptcy court on behalf of creditors.
  • Represented creditors in banking and other industries in litigation in state and federal court.
