The Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism — CTPAT: Benefits for the Transportation and Logistics Industries

Attached is a Law Alert from Porter Wright's Transportation and Logistics Practice Group relating to the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT). Some of you may have heard about CTPAT in connection with import companies. However, many eligible companies fall within the category of transportation and logistics providers including land, rail, sea and air carriers and various types of transportation intermediaries. The enclosed Law Alert outlines the requirements for being certified under this program, as well as the benefits for certified firms, and explains some of the services Porter Wright has offered in this area. CTPAT certification has become the equivalent in the risk-management area to what the ISO certification is in the quality-control field. Being CTPAT certified can provide a distinct marketing advantage to companies.
