Six Porter Wright partners recognized among Super Lawyers 2013 Top Lists

Four Porter Wright partners — Kathleen Brinkman, Bradd Siegel, Carolyn Taggart and Kathleen Trafford — are recognized among the Top 100 Ohio Super Lawyers®. These four lawyers, along with Marilyn Maag and Charles Warner, are also named to Ohio Super Lawyers' other Top Lists for 2013.

Super Lawyers Top Lists include attorneys who received the highest point totals in the Ohio Super Lawyers nomination, research and review process. Super Lawyers comprise the top five percent of lawyers in each state.

Kathleen Brinkman is recognized in the Top 100 Lawyers in Ohio, Top 50 Female Lawyers, Top 50 Lawyers in Cincinnati and Top 25 Female Lawyers in Cincinnati in the area of Criminal Defense: White Collar. Her practice includes the representation of corporations and individuals who face investigation or charges by federal or state authorities, or whose property the government seeks to forfeit, and she has recently defended clients in immigration, environmental, and fraud criminal investigations. Brinkman is listed in Chambers USA in the area of Litigation: White Collar Crime & Government Investigations and was honored with the 2011 John P. Kiely Professionalism Award from the Cincinnati Bar Association and the 2005 Nettie Cronise Lutes Award from the Ohio State Bar Association. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers

Marilyn Maag is honored in the Top 50 Female Lawyers, Top 50 Lawyers in Cincinnati and Top 25 Female Lawyers in Cincinnati in the area of Estate Planning and Probate law. From both the firm's Cincinnati and Dayton offices, she works with individuals and families on estate planning, trust and probate law issues. Her practice includes charitable planning, elder law and estate planning for family business owners. She is an Ohio State Bar Association Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law and has been named a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. She received both her bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Cincinnati. She is also recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America in trusts and estates.

Bradd Siegel is recognized in the Top 100 Lawyers in Ohio and the Top 50 Lawyers in Columbus in the area of Employment Litigation: Defense. He has more than 30 years of experience in labor and employment law litigation on behalf of companies and their managers in state and federal courts, and has successfully defended management clients against claims brought under state and federal employment discrimination statutes, ERISA, Section 301 of the LMRA, and state wrongful discharge law. He was elected a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers in 1999, has been named for more than 20 years to The Best Lawyers in America in the area of employment law, and has been recognized by Chambers USA as a leading employment law attorney. Additionally, Siegel taught Employment Law and Employment Discrimination Law as an adjunct professor at Capital University Law School. He is a Fellow of both the Ohio State Bar Foundation and the Columbus Bar Foundation.

Carolyn Taggart is honored in the Top 100 Lawyers in Ohio, Top 50 Female Lawyers, Top 50 Lawyers in Cincinnati and Top 25 Female Lawyers in Cincinnati in the area of Civil Litigation Defense. With more than 30 years of trial experience, Taggart defends product liability, legal malpractice, and nursing home liability claims and litigates complex commercial cases. She has extensive jury and bench trial and appellate experience in both state and federal courts. Taggart is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, received the Ohio State Bar Association’s Eugene R. Weir Award for Ethics and Professionalism in 2007 and has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in the area of product liability litigation. In addition, she participates in the Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring Program, volunteers as a mediator in federal court and serves on the Board of Visitors for the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

Kathleen Trafford is recognized in the Top 100 Lawyers in Ohio, Top 50 Female Lawyers, Top 50 Lawyers in Columbus and Top 25 Female Lawyers in Columbus in the area of General Litigation. A partner in Porter Wright’s Litigation Department and chair of the firm's Appellate Practice, she concentrates her practice in the area of governmental and regulatory litigation and constitutional law. Trafford represents private parties in disputes with governmental agencies and also serves as special counsel to a number of state and local governmental agencies. She also handles cases involving constitutional challenges to state and local laws and orders, First Amendment claims, rate making and price discrimination, licensing disputes, trademarks, professional ethics, public records, injunctions and special writs in the Ohio Supreme Court. Trafford serves as an arbitrator for complex litigation matters and is past President of the Columbus Bar Association and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. She has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in the area of commercial litigation and by Chambers USA in the area of general commercial litigation. Before joining Porter Wright in 1988, Trafford was Deputy Chief Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General where she had primary responsibility for defending the constitutionality of state statutes and for representing state officials and agencies in complex litigation.

Charles Warner is honored in the Top 50 Lawyers in Columbus in the area of Employment & Labor. He represents employers in connection with discrimination charges, express and implied employment contract issues, employment practices and related tort and benefit claims. Warner is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, a Fellow of the Columbus Bar Foundation, and a Life Fellow of both the Ohio State and American Bar Foundations.
