Scott North moderates roundtable on workforce issues

Government and Regulatory Affairs practice chair Scott North moderated a workforce roundtable discussion on Feb. 13, 2015 with Sen. Rob Portman and representatives of Columbus Castings. The discussion centered on the Second Chance Act, which funds programs focused on minimizing a return to jail for former prisoners. Columbus Castings has worked with Alvis House, a half-way house with career training programs that receives money from the Second Chance Act. North, who has worked with the county, city and state to develop innovative employment initiatives at Columbus Castings, commented in an article in the Columbus Dispatch. He said the company is committed to helping former prisoners succeed. “It’s not just identifying, hiring and training workers, but it’s keeping them here,” North said in the article.
