Porter Wright Promotes Five Attorneys To Senior Associate

Porter Wright recently promoted five of its associates to senior associate status: Jennifer E. Edwards, Jack J. Gravelle, Andrew S. Nicoll, Javier A. Pacheco, and Tracie N. Ransom. Promotion to senior associate is a significant milestone and reflects outstanding contributions to Porter Wright’s success.

“This group of attorneys offers a wealth of legal knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to our firm,” said Robert W. (Buzz) Trafford, Porter Wright’s Managing Partner. “I am proud of all of their achievements and look forward as they embark on this next phase in their careers.”

Jenni Edwards works with employers to minimize disruptions that employment-related disputes can cause in the workplace. She represents employers faced with union representation drives, providing advice and advocacy on union avoidance, bargaining unit composition, and representational proceedings. She also works closely with unionized employers in connection with unfair labor practice charges, grievance and arbitration representation, and collective bargaining agreement negotiations. Additionally, Jenni has been recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers® – Rising Stars Edition every year since 2009.

Jack Gravelle assists public companies with corporate governance, securities laws compliance, and the reporting obligations of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He also advises various business entities regarding formation, raising capital, commercial refinancing, contractual arrangements, general corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions. Jack contributes to the firm’s securities law weblog, Federal Securities Law Blog, and to the firm’s banking & finance weblog, Banking & Finance Law Report. A summa cum laude graduate from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law, Jack also serves as Adjunct Professor at Capital University Law School paralegal program. He has been recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers® – Rising Stars Edition 2011.

Andy Nicoll’s practice focuses on representing debtors, creditors, and committees in workouts, bankruptcies and bankruptcy-related litigation. He received his B.S. and Masters in Accountancy from Brigham Young University and his J.D. magna cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, where he was an associate editor of the Brigham Young University Law Review. Andy joined the firm in 2009 after beginning his career in the Chicago office of Jenner & Block.

Javier Pacheco, a resident in Porter Wright’s Naples office, has represented clients in a wide range of commercial disputes involving creditors’ rights, products liability, employment, insurance coverage, employee benefits, landlord/tenant, and intentional tort litigation in federal and state trial and appellate courts in both Ohio and Florida. Javier also represents financial institutions in complex creditors’ rights matters. Additionally, Javier has written and presented on litigation tactics, legal ethics, and international law topics for the American Bar Association, the Cleveland Bar Association, and the Thomas S. Biggs Inns of Court. A magna cum laude graduate from Case Western University School of Law, Javier also has remained active in the community. He has served as a board member for Collier County Council for Hispanic Business Professionals, a member of the Board of Directors of Esperanza, Inc., an instructor for the Cleveland Bar Association’s 3 R’s Program, and a volunteer of Ohio Legal Aid Society and the Collier County, Florida Legal Aid Society.

Tracie Ransom represents clients in a variety of business and commercial litigation matters, including breach-of-contract actions and insurance-coverage disputes, as well as in litigation matters that arise in the telecommunications, energy, and utility industries. She also routinely represents clients in product liability matters. A cum laude graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law, Tracie previously clerked for the Honorable Jeffrey S. Sutton of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Honorable James L. Graham, Senior U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Ohio. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the YWCA Housing Corporation and is a graduate of the OSBA Leadership Academy, Leadership Columbus, and the African American Leadership Academy.
