Porter Wright Partner Ranked Among Top International Arbitration Lawyers Nationally by Chambers USA for Second Year

For the second year, Porter Wright partner Judd L. Kessler ranks among the best International Arbitration lawyers nationally according to a recent ranking by Chambers & Partners, publishers of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.

According to Chambers USA's research, Kessler "handles both investment treaty and commercial arbitration work and is often selected in arbitrations involving Latin America." One interviewee has praised Kessler, stating that he has "a great way of getting everything on track and moving forward." Major cases in which he has served either as an arbitrator or chair of a three-arbitrator tribunal include Repsol, S.A. v.Petroecuador and National Grid, PLC v. Republic of Argentina, among others.

Chambers USA rankings are based on lawyer and client interviews, among other things, and assess criteria such as technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness and astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities that clients consider relevant.

While regarded by Chambers for his depth of knowledge in the Latin American market, Kessler also has substantial experience in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In serving as a leading international arbitrator, he draws on experience (both as private counsel and senior government counsel) in international investment, infrastructure, energy and service projects as well as political risk insurance contracts. His fluency in Spanish allows him to conduct arbitration proceedings in Spanish.

For more than 10 years, Kessler also served as President of the Inter-American Bar Foundation, which works with governments of the Western Hemisphere to improve the administration of justice and to establish or strengthen institutions for arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
