Porter Wright client Skurka Aerospace awarded $8.2 million by Federal Court jury in Cleveland

Hugh McKay, Partner in Charge of the Cleveland office and member of Porter Wright's Litigation Department, was quoted in The Cleveland Plain Dealer article, "Jury orders Eaton to pay TransDigm division $8.2 million in aerospace case," regarding the April 24 verdict in favor of Skurka Aerospace (a subsidiary of TransDigm Group).

The case began four years ago with Skurka suing Eaton Corp for fraud and misappropriation of trade secrets, among other claims, relating to Skurka's purchase of a division of Eaton based in Burbank, CA. The nearly four week trial, which included more than 370 motions and filings, culminated with the multi-million dollar verdict awarded on Tuesday.

From The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Alison Grant reporting:
... "The trial, which got under way in late March, is a rarity among companies in a business dispute that generally settle out of court.

Hugh McKay, an attorney for Porter Wright and TransDigm's lead counsel on the case, said Skurka and TransDigm are 'very gratified' with the jury verdict.

'[We] value our intellectual property and trades secrets and rigorously defend them,' McKay said."
