Porter Wright Cleveland Attorneys Recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers® 2009

Fifty-four Porter Wright attorneys working in 22 primary practice areas were recently selected by their peers and through the independent research of the publishers of Law & Politics and Cincinnati Magazine for inclusion in Ohio Super Lawyers® 2009. Two of those attorneys - Michael A. Ellis and Hugh E. McKay - reside in the firm's Cleveland office.

Super Lawyers comprise the top five percent of lawyers in each state based on verdicts and settlements, transactions, representative clients, experience, honors and awards, special licenses and certifications, position within law firm, bar and other professional activity, pro bono and community service, scholarly lectures and writings, education and employment background, and other outstanding achievements.

Michael A. Ellis's primary practice area is Mergers & Acquisitions. Mr. Ellis focuses his practice in mergers and acquisitions; public and private securities offerings; corporate governance and SEC disclosure obligations; proxy, executive compensation, and shareholders' communications matters; and defensive tender offer tactics. He also counsels clients, including start-up and emerging growth companies, in venture capital, equity and debt securities, and bank and tax-exempt financings.

Hugh E. McKay, Partner-in-Charge of the firm's Cleveland office, practices in the area of Business Litigation. Mr. McKay, a past president of the Cleveland Bar Association, represents corporate clients and financial institutions in complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts and has successfully represented several Fortune 500 companies in major litigation.
