Porter Wright Cleveland attorney Spellacy appointed to 'Board on the Unauthorized Practice of Law'
Leo M. Spellacy, Jr., a partner in Porter Wright's Litigation Department in the firm's Cleveland office, was recently appointed to the Board on the Unauthorized Practice of Law of the Supreme Court of Ohio by Justice Terrence O'Donnell.
The Board consists of 13 members who are appointed to three-year terms by the Supreme Court. It is established to conduct hearings, preserve the record and make findings and recommendations to the Supreme Court in cases involving the alleged unauthorized practice of law. The Board also is authorized to issue informal, non-binding advisory opinions on matters concerning the unauthorized practice of law.
Spellacy focuses his legal work in Porter Wright's Environmental, Energy and Government Affairs Practice Groups. He received a B.A. from John Carroll University, an M.P.A. from Cleveland State University and a J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, summa cum laude. In the community, he actively serves Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland, Catholic Lawyers Guild, St. Ignatius High School, Loyola Club and Bishop Cosgrove Center.
