Porter Wright Attorney John C. Monica, Jr. Named a "Top Ten Expert" in Environmental, Health, and Safety Issues Related to Engineered Nanomaterials

Porter Wright Partner John C. Monica, Jr., has been named a "Top Ten Expert" in Environmental, Health, and Safety Issues Related to Engineered Nanomaterials by Nanotechnology Law & Business, a peer-reviewed journal devoted to the legal, business and policy aspects of small-scale technologies. Mr. Monica, an attorney in Porter Wright's Washington, D.C. office, chairs the firm's multi-disciplinary Nanotechnology Practice Group.

"I am pleased by the award and grateful to have some small part in helping businesses deal with the environmental, health, and safety issues surrounding certain engineered nanoscale materials," said Monica. "The journal is on the cutting edge of nanotechnology law, and it is always great to be recognized by your peers."

Mr. Monica's contributions to the emerging field of nanotechnology law are numerous. He has published a number of articles regarding nanotechnology and the law and, this year, will release his first full-length reference text, Nanotechnology Law & Policy. In addition, he has presented at national and international nanotechnology symposia and assisted with the development of voluntary international nomenclature and environmental, health and safety standards for the industry. Mr. Monica's nanotechnology clients include nanoscale material manufacturers, industrial manufacturers using technology, pharmaceutical companies, chemical companies, and commercial insurance companies.
