Porter Wright Attorney John C. Hartranft Receives Columbus Bar Association's Bar Service Medal
Porter Wright attorney John C. Hartranft received the Columbus Bar Association's Bar Service Medal at the Association's annual meeting, held June 12, 2009. The Bar Service Medal recognizes Mr. Hartranft's long-time support for the Columbus Bar Association, including his service as a Past President of the Association, his membership and leadership on various Association committees, his role in various Association task forces, and his membership on the Association's Board of Governors.

Mr. Hartranft practices in the firm's Banking & Finance Practice Group. He was appointed Special Counsel to the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Saving and Loan Association, in March 1985 and, in that capacity, oversaw the reopening or liquidation of 72 privately insured Ohio savings and loan associations. He spearheaded the firm's efforts on behalf of the State of Ohio to recover over $180 million on behalf of failed financial institutions. Since that time, Mr. Hartranft has represented the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, the Federal Savings & Loan Insurance Corporation (FSLIC), the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), and the Federal Depositors Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in connection with failed financial institutions in Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Puerto Rico. Mr. Hartranft has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® in the area of Banking Law for more than 10 years and is also named in Who's Who in American Lawyers. In addition, he is recognized by the publishers of Law & Politics and Cincinnati Magazine as an Ohio Super Lawyer®.
