Mott joins Porter Wright's real estate team
Former GC adds state-level real estate law, public development experience
Porter Wright is pleased to welcome Rebecca J. Mott as an Associate in the Firm's Corporate Real Estate Practice Group. Mott joins the Firm from the State of West Virginia, Department of Administration, where she served as Assistant General Counsel.
"As both a lawyer and real estate professional, Rebecca brings an effective combination of state-level real estate law and public development experience, making her a distinctive addition to our corporate real estate team," said Robert W. "Buzz" Trafford, Porter Wright's Managing Partner.
Mott uses her wide-ranging experience in both the public and private sectors to counsel clients in issues related to all facets of real estate law, including acquisitions and dispositions; office, retail, cell phone tower and wireless leasing; real estate tax; development; condominium; land use and zoning; and annexation. Rebecca also counsels clients in issues related to public construction, public finance and bond law, government procurement, and regulatory and legislative affairs.
As Assistant General Counsel for the State of West Virginia, Department of Administration, Mott provided counsel to 16 divisions and handled all real estate legal matters for the department. In addition, she was appointed as Legal Counsel and Executive Secretary to the Public Land Corporation, responsible for mineral rights leasing and state-owned property dispositions. As a licensed real estate agent, she has also handled commercial real estate sales and development for a major Columbus commercial real estate firm.
Mott received her law degree from Capital University Law School, a B.A. from Otterbein College, cum laude, and a real estate license from Hondros College.
