McKay quoted in Plain Dealer's Mother's Day business feature
On Mother's Day (May 12, 2013) Hugh McKay - partner-in-charge of Porter Wright's Cleveland office - was one of a dozen Northeast Ohio business leaders featured in an article by The Plain Dealer titled, "'The best advice Mom ever gave me...': 12 area business leaders share their mother's wisdom." Each one of them were asked to answer the following question: "What is the best advice your mother ever gave you?" Below is McKay's response.
From The Plain Dealer, Janet H. Cho reporting:
"Hugh E. McKay, partner in charge of the Cleveland office of Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP, said his mother, Caroline McKay, a longtime Cleveland and East Cleveland schoolteacher, was a font of memorable advice, 'some cosmic, some practical.'
"Among them: ''You catch more bears with honey' -- good advice for a naturally obnoxious litigator; 'You've got to be ready to burn the midnight oil' -- good inspiration for those late nights at work; and 'The kids just need to know somebody believes in them!'
"'She was the inspiration and spark for the creation of one of the most satisfying aspects of my 32-year career, the 3R's program of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association,' which sends more than 500 lawyers out every month to Cleveland and East Cleveland high schools to teach constitutional law and civics lessons."
