From Starting Strength: Raising the bar: Legal issues in strength training

Brodie Butland, an attorney in Porter Wright's Litigation Department, has published the article "Raising the bar: Legal issues in strength training" at startingstrength.com. In the article, Brodie focuses on three points for strength coaches to consider: "1. Liability for personal injuries, and how coaches/gyms have avoided it; 2. Incorporation of a coaching business, and how it may or may not protect you from liability; and 3. Nutrition counseling, and the fuzzy line between merely providing information and unlicensed dietary advice."

Brodie serves clients from the firm's Cleveland office, providing guidance in complex commercial litigation including contract, trade secret and intellectual property matters. In addition being an attorney, Brodie is a Starting Strength Coach who earned his credential in 2012.
