Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

At Porter Wright, we want our firm to be a welcoming place for all who work and do business here. We are better lawyers, friends, allies and community members when we embrace our differences.

We strive each day to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture at Porter Wright and in the business community as a whole. We know that this goal can only be achieved by working together in many areas and we are proud to share some of the steps we are taking.

Policies

By putting diversity, equity and inclusion policies into practice, we will attract more talent and build a more dynamic legal profession, a more inviting workplace and a richer community. Porter Wright offers gender neutral family paid leave and transgender health care. Our policies have evolved to support diversity and inclusion including revising our non-discrimination policy to be more inclusive, and creating policies on vendor/supplier non-discrimination and diversity and gender transition in the workplace.

Programs

Building a collaborative community around our differences allows everyone to come together. Porter Wright takes part in a number of programs and partners with organizations to enhance on our diversity and inclusion efforts.

Mansfield Rule Certified & Mansfield Certified Plus
Porter Wright is proud to be Mansfield Rule Certified and Mansfield Certified Plus for exceeding benchmarks in the national diversity, equity and inclusion program aimed at better recruitment, retention and promotion of underrepresented groups. The program works with law firms to boost the representation of women, lawyers of color, lawyers with disabilities and LGBTQ+ lawyers in leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities and senior lateral positions.

Human Rights Campaign Business Coalition for Equality
Porter Wright is a member of the Human Rights Campaign Business Coalition for Equality, which supports the Equality Act—federal legislation that would provide the same basic protections to LGBTQ+ people as are provided to other protected groups under federal law. In addition, Porter Wright is named to the HRC's "Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Employees," a listing that benchmarks corporate policies for LGBTQ+ employees.

Ohio Business Competes
Porter Wright joined this non-partisan coalition of businesses that are committed to achieving nondiscrimination policies at the state level in order to attract the best talent, to increase Business-to-Business & Business-to-Consumer relationships, and to grow Ohio’s economy.

The Columbus Commitment: Achieving Pay Equality
Porter Wright signed The Columbus Commitment, a voluntary pay equity commitment from the Columbus Women’s Commission. The Commitment asks companies in Columbus to learn about the gender pay gap, understand how race and other factors create even larger disparities and take action to build awareness of the unique challenges facing women in the workplace.

Organizational Involvement & Affiliations

We are passionate about making a change in our communities and our efforts stretch beyond what happens within the walls of our firm. We are proud partners in all of our markets with incredible community organizations that work toward those goals.
