Brian is a trial attorney with more than 40 years of experience representing clients in court, arbitration, and mediation on a wide range of business disputes. His trial practice emphasizes construction, representing project owners, contractors, and design and engineering professionals on construction projects.

Brian also counsels clients in the areas of real estate, energy, and general business counseling and litigation. Brian has substantial experience throughout the construction industry in the negotiation and preparation of construction contracts, project performance and the resolution of construction claims and disputes. Brian also served as Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General from 2003-2010 representing the Ohio School Facilities Commission in the negotiation and resolution of school construction claims and disputes. He also devotes considerable time to representing and advising public utilities and energy companies on a wide range of commercial disputes, negotiation and obtaining lease and easement rights, negotiating and preparing energy contracts and the enforcement of easement and lease rights for the operation of public utility equipment and facilities.

Brian is committed to alternatives to the courtroom and has considerable experience counseling clients in a broad manner of alternative dispute resolution procedures. He is a trained, experienced arbitrator and mediator with the American Arbitration Association (AAA), serving on its Commercial Arbitration Panel since 1980, its Construction Panel since 1984, and its Large Complex Case Panel of arbitrators hearing and resolving disputes over $1million since 2004. Brian has served as an AAA arbitrator or mediator on over 200 cases – arbitrating and mediating issues from individual consumer disputes, large commercial disputes, to multi-party construction disputes seeking over $19 million in damages. Brian regularly counsels and represents parties in alternative dispute resolution proceedings. He also serves on the panel of mediators selected by the Judges of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio to mediate disputes before that court.
