Ryan handles corporate contractual matters to bring mergers, acquisitions, financing, energy and natural resources deals, startup operations and other general business transactions to fruition.

Combining business operations knowledge with legal acumen, Ryan efficiently executes a variety of complex business contracts so that rapidly growing companies, business owners and early stage entrepreneurs can cost-effectively achieve growth goals. Having managed an office of over 100 employees and contractors, Ryan applies first-hand knowledge of daily business functions, including project management, employee management, and independent contracting, in providing practical counsel to fast-growing entities so they can overcome challenges and achieve their business goals.

Ryan drafts and negotiates a myriad of contracts to help close multi-layered transactions, including architect/contractor agreements, business and commercial agreements, retail leases and general real estate agreements, and purchase/sale agreements. He represents clients across multiple industries, including energy and natural resources, commercial real estate, financial services, computer software, telecommunications, food and beverage, manufacturing, and health care. Ryan also assists early stage entrepreneurs by completing the documentation innovators need to establish their business profile, grow and expand, and ultimately exit on their own terms.

Ryan leverages his deep energy sector experience to consult natural resource clients with exploration and production, pipeline, and downstream/power plant matters, as well as with title and litigation, including the drafting of amicus and merit briefs submitted before the Ohio Supreme Court. He also represents owners, construction contractors, architects and engineers in drafting a variety of agreements, including AIA and other industry form contracts. As a Registered Landman (RL) with the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) prior to joining Porter Wright, Ryan handled title and ownership issues, lease negotiations, title and lease curative actions, joint ventures, unitization, Ohio Dormant Mineral Act matters, and dispute resolution.

During law school, Ryan served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Chief Judge R. Guy Cole, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
