Porter Wright receives 2013 Corporate Caring Award

5/20/2013
Porter Wright is proud to announce that it has been awarded a 2013 Corporate Caring Award by Columbus Business First.

More than 70 Porter Wright lawyers serve in leadership roles on boards and community organizations in Columbus — in fact, firm lawyers lend their support to more than 200 Central Ohio organizations across the spectrum of arts, education, environment, health and human services.

The firm was honored particularly for its dedication to supporting the arts in Central Ohio. "Our firm donates substantial resources to causes that make a difference," said Rich Terapak, a partner and leader of the firm's charitable contributions committee. "When you're doing business in a community, you want the community to be vibrant and prosperous. The arts contribute to that vitality."

"Porter Wright not only is one of the great law firms of our city, but one of the great philanthropic supporters of the Columbus Arts Community. Their dedication can be evidenced by simply canvassing the boards of all the Central Ohio arts organizations. You will be hard pressed not to find representatives from Porter Wright," said Bill Conner, CEO of The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA), in support of Porter Wright's award.

Nannette Maciejunes, Executive Director of The Columbus Museum of Art, said, "Porter Wright recognizes the impact o vital arts community has on health and vitality of our city. Their ongoing investment in the museum has allowed us to increase our impact on the community. The firm donates countless hours of service as board members, advisors and legal counsel, making the firm an integral part of our museum family. They understand the importance of human capital; of giving of themselves, their time and their talent to enrich the communities they live and work in."

More than 140 of the firm's employees volunteered their time to serve local nonprofit needs throughout last year. Porter Wright annually supports a large riding team for Pelotonia, which raised more than $87,000 for the James Cancer Hospital in 2012. And, through multiple jeans days and United Way efforts, the firm's employees alone contributed over $78,000 to local charities last year.
