Just like you, we believe in strong communities. So we find ways to give back. We donate time, money, skills, and goods where we can have the strongest impact. We haul boxes, serve meals, and wield paint brushes where the needs are greatest. We connect so that everyone benefits.
As part of this year’s United Way campaign — Live United — our attorneys and staff are donating their time and skills — as well as financial support — to select central Ohio United Way agencies. From August through October, we will be volunteering with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Buckeye Ranch, Faith Mission, LifeCare Alliance, YWCA, the Salvation Army, and other organizations in an effort to connect more closely to the difference these agencies make in our communities. In many cases, volunteer time will take place during normal business hours.
Porter Wright is also doing its part to move toward sustainability. We launched Porter Wright Goes Green – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, an in-firm conservation initiative, and signed on as a pilot firm in the American Bar Association’s Model Law Firm Sustainability Policy Project – Climate Change, Sustainable Development, and Ecosystems Committee.
We also support more than 100 other civic and charitable organizations including:
Organizations dedicated to providing legal services to those in need, such as the Legal Aid Society of Columbus, the Equal Access to Justice Foundation, and the Inter-Faith Legal Clinic;
Organizations devoted to strengthening our children’s educational opportunities, such as the 3Rs Program, I Know I Can, Columbus Early Learning Centers, Literacy Volunteers of Collier County, and the United Negro College Fund;
Organizations and events that support those with chronic or debilitating health conditions, such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, the American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation, the March of Dimes, Homereach Hospice, and the Columbus AIDS Task Force;
Organizations devoted to the cultural and artistic aspects of our communities, such as BalletMet, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, CAPA, CATCO, and Opera Columbus;
Organizations that preserve our natural resources and lend a hand to our four-legged friends, such as the Capital Area Humane Society and Metro Parks of Franklin County;
