Mr. Bahlmann brings a wealth of business and community experiences to his practice within the firm’s Business and Tax Department. Prior to joining Porter Wright, he served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at Battelle Memorial Institute. Mr. Bahlmann also served as the Codirector of its European Operations from 1985 to 1986. During his career, Mr. Bahlmann gained significant practical experience in the legal issues faced by technology- and science-based industries, corporate governance issues, and legal issues facing nonprofit entities. He also managed a variety of administrative activities, from facility operations and human resources to security services and corporate communications. Additionally, Mr. Bahlmann handled a number of legislative matters for Battelle. He understands the legal and business issues that arise when an effort is made to take a new idea or invention and develop it into a commercially viable product.
