EmployerLawReport Blog: Ms. Edwards works with employers to minimize disruptions that employment-related disputes can cause in the workplace. She represents employers faced with union representation drives, providing advice and advocacy on union avoidance, bargaining unit composition, and representational proceedings. She also works closely with unionized employers in connection with unfair labor practice charges, grievance and arbitration representation, and collective bargaining agreement negotiations.
Ms. Edwards’s efforts on behalf of employers also extend to employment-related litigation. Her experience with ERISA-related claims, in particular, includes litigation of claims related to denial of disability and pension benefits to alleged breaches of fiduciary duty to failure to provide requested plan information. In the employment discrimination and wrongful discharge arena, Ms. Edwards’s representation encompasses common law claims such as breach of contract and public policy violations as well as claims under employment statutes such as Title VII, the ADA, the ADEA, the FMLA, the FLSA, and many other local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Recognizing that the best resolution for many employment-related disputes is an early one, Ms. Edwards also provides advice to in-house counsel and human resources and benefits professionals about day-to-day issues that arise in the course of today’s employer-employee relationship.
