Phil Calabrese selected as Sustaining Member of Product Liability Advisory Council

Phil Calabrese, a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department, has been named a Sustaining Member of the Product Liability Advisory Council Inc. (PLAC). Calabrese joins fellow Porter Wright attorney Terry Miller, who is also a Sustaining Member.

Calabrese has extensive experience in complex litigation, especially in the areas of product liability litigation, toxic tort litigation, class action defense, defense of securities fraud and antitrust cases, contract disputes and trade secret disputes.

PLAC is a nonprofit association formed in 1983 to analyze, understand, and shape the common law of product liability and complex litigation. Its membership consists of more than 100 leading product manufacturers and more than 350 of the foremost product liability defense counsel in the U.S. and abroad.

Sustaining Membership in PLAC is a special honor, because it is “by invitation only” from the organization’s board of directors. Sustaining Members are defense trial and appellate attorneys with deep experience in complex litigation matters, who are selected on the basis of being judged capable of making “significant contributions” to the association’s mission. They support PLAC’s corporate members and each other, “tapping into their considerable skills and expertise to draft amicus briefs, formulate and deliver compelling seminar content, and lead special projects.”

“We are extremely pleased that Phil was invited to join the Product Liability Advisory Council,” said Jim Curphey, chair of Porter Wright’s Litigation Department. “This honor is a reflection of his exceptional litigation skills as well as his ability to offer strategic insight and excellent business counsel.”
